I went to a used book sale today! Nothing like grimy, smelly, worn, loved books. Today was the last day of the sale - you could fill up a bag of books for $4-$8, depending on the size of your bag or box. I’ve gone once or twice before with Mel but this year I took my mom, who’s sort of a former bookaholic. She got into cross-stitching at one point and you don’t really see her with a book too often anymore, although I’m sure she still reads.

She went to town on the tables of books at the sale. My mother isn’t a picky reader by any means. If something even remotely attracts her attention, she’ll pick it up and give it a try. We brought two bags and had to search for a third by the time we were finished. Our three bulging bags cost $22, which I find amazing considering the amount of hardcovers we got and the condition of the books. I’m currently in the process of thinning out my possessions so I tried to be modest with my selections.

I’m particularly happy with the following finds:

Me Talk Pretty One Day by David Sedaris

The Brief History of the Dead by Kevin Brockmeier. I randomly picked this up at the library years ago and LOVED it. I squealed when I found it. I highly recommend it.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. I’ve always wanted to read this and just never got around to it.

Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. This is an utterly pointless book that is horribly outdated but….. it’s Kevin Bacon!

And of course, I gotta have my guilty pleasure author, Mr. Stephen King! It’s a short story collection called Everything’s Eventual.

This sale happens twice a year. The next one is in April. If you live anywhere near Loveland, CO, make sure to check it out: Friends of the Loveland Public Library Used Book Sale
